The syllabus
Five modules, in the order that actually works.
Most apps throw puzzles at you on day one. We start with the board, because reading notation, hearing a move and seeing a fork all depend on it.

Voice control, on every plan
Say the square. Say the move. Keep your eyes on the board.
The trainer listens through your browser and reads prompts aloud. Two Pro drills, Blindfold and Square Colors, go further: they run eyes-free, with no board to look at. It understands the way people actually talk.

What it runs on.
We build this to keep the human mind sharp. You see the square, you say the answer; the software listens and keeps score. Nothing here plays chess for you.
So here is everything underneath it, with names and licences.

No. The curriculum starts with the board itself. If you can tell a knight from a bishop you can start module one today.
Your browser listens and we parse what you say: squares ("e four"), moves ("knight f3", "castle") and commands ("next", "repeat", "hint"). Recognition runs on your device where your browser supports it; otherwise the browser's own speech service does it (Google's in Chrome and Edge, Apple's in Safari). To improve recognition we keep short clips of some answers, about two seconds each, stored without your name or account and deleted after 90 days. Pro users can turn that off in Profile.
Chrome, Edge and Safari (desktop and mobile). Firefox has no speech recognition yet, so there everything works by tapping.
Name the Square and Find the Square at every level, 3 openings, 3 middlegame lessons, 5 puzzles a day, 3 endgames, 1 voice game a day against Stockfish, leaderboards and voice control. No time limit. Pro adds unlimited voice games.

Open Profile, then Manage subscription, and cancel there. It takes a minute and you do not need to email anyone. Pro stays on until the end of the period you already paid for, and nothing renews after that.
Yes. Email hello@chesstrainer.ai within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it in full. A renewal is refunded if you ask within 7 days and have not used any Pro content since it renewed. We answer within 5 business days, and Stripe returns the money in 5 to 10 business days.
Read the refund policyYou keep it. Your stats, streak, history and settings stay in your account, and every free drill and lesson stays open. If you come back to Pro later, you pick up where you left off.
No, never. The free plan needs only an email or a Google sign-in. The trial is earned: keep a 3-day streak and Pro is yours for 72 hours, then it ends on its own. We only ask for a card when you choose to buy Pro, and Stripe handles it.
Your email, display name, training progress and settings, and your plan status from Stripe (never your card number). When you answer by voice, short clips of some answers (about two seconds, not linked to your name or account, deleted after 90 days) to improve recognition. We also collect anonymous performance and error data and a small sample of masked session replays. No ad tracking and no third-party analytics. You can delete your account yourself at any time in Profile. The privacy policy lists everything.
Read the privacy policyYes. The app is mobile-first and installs to your home screen. On a laptop you get a sidebar layout and a bigger board.
